About the Rose Run
All Roosevelt students participate in this fun event by running laps around the Mission Rose Garden in exchange for pledges from family, friends, and community member.

The Rose Run is Roosevelt’s largest fundraiser.  The money raised goes toward critical positions and programs for TK-6th grade students including Curriculum Specialists who assist teachers in the classrooms, Read With Roosevelt, Cultural Arts programs, Science Fair, and Field Trips.  These opportunities for our students are not funded by the school district and are made possible only through donations to REEF, the school’s volunteer-based parent/teacher organization.

Logo Competition
The Rose Run Committee is proud to announce that the winner of the 2019 Rose Run logo design competition is Ambika Mahto (2nd Grade)!  Ambika’s creative design incorporated students running inside roses.  Her logo will be featured on Rose Run printed material and the event T-shirt.  Congratulations Ambika!

Student Preparation and Awards
In preparation for the fun and exciting event, Roosevelt students work with their classes every week on good running form and discuss the benefits of regular exercise.  Preparing for the event helps students boost their confidence and physical ability.  Top runners for each grade in both male and female categories are awarded a medal and are congratulated on stage at the awards assembly.

Student Prizes
To reward students for their hard work getting pledges and earning money for their school, prizes are awarded including an exclusive Roosevelt LandShark tour and a sports themed prize room.  All students who bring in at least one pledge of any amount get to go to a Principle Popsicle Recess.  There are also prizes for the highest number of pledges regardless of total amount raised.  Top earners can win things like Principal for the Day, Teacher for the Day, KEYT Jr. Meteorologist, and a class party!

Another fun element of Rose Run is the Principal’s Challenge and Teacher’s Challenge!  The students suggest wacky feats for the principal and teachers to complete if the school meets or exceeds its fundraising goals for the year.  These have included kissing a frog, a whip cream Slip ’N Slide, and a dance medley performance!

2019 Corporate Sponsors
Another important aspect of this fundraiser involves support from local businesses who contribute by funding a corporate sponsorship.  There are several levels and benefits for the sponsorships including corporate name and logo recognition on the widely displayed event T-shirts worn by over 600 students and staff (Platinum/Gold/Silver level) and corporate name and logo recognition on ParentSquare posts, printed materials, Roosevelt Elementary website, and an event banner hung at school (Platinum/Gold/Silver/Bronze level).
