Registration for Kindergarten takes place after winter break. Contact the main office for more information and an application packet. Applications require a completed physician physical, current immunization record and either passport or original birth certificate. Parents must also submit two different proofs of residence (e.g., a current utility bill and mortgage or rental agreement). If you are interested in a campus tour, please contact the main office.
Attendance Area & Assessments
A listing of the Roosevelt attendance area by street can be found using the school and district boundary maps.
Assessments of incoming Kindergartners are performed by the Kindergarten teachers in late May/early June.
Age Requirements and Transitional Kindergarten
Incoming kindergartners must be five years of age by September 1st. Children who have birthdays between September 2 and December 2 have the option for transitional Kindergarten. More information can be found at the transitional kindergarten section of the Santa Barbara Unified School District web site.
For the first four weeks of the year and other scheduled minimum days, Kindergarten is dismissed at 12:00 p.m. every day. Thereafter, dismissal is at 2:10 p.m., except on Wednesdays (1:10 p.m.). Lunch is offered for bus riders on early dismissal days.
