Ms. Christy Bazemore, Principal

Ms. Bazemore has been an educator for over 17 years.  She began her career in Yuma, AZ, as a classroom teacher for Grade 2.  After receiving a Master’s degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University, she worked as an Interventionist for a number of years before becoming the English Language Coordinator for the school district where she worked.  While pursuing her leadership credentials, Ms. Bazemore worked diligently to assure teachers of EL students in District One were trained in the most current and effective strategies to support EL students.  Ms. Bazemore has developed and presented many professional development topics to district staff in a district of over 8,500 students.

After receiving her leadership credentials, Ms. Mendivil became the assistant principal at a large middle school within the district.

Ms. Bazemore was part of the University of Virginia partnership with Yuma School District One and received extensive training in "Change", and became principal of the elementary school where she taught for many years.

Ms. Bazemore became the principal of Roosevelt in July of 2015.  Her goal is to continue to support and expand the exemplary instructional and enrichment programs that define Roosevelt School as a California Distinguished School.
